School History

The history of St. Thomas school goes back to November 1983, when Rev. Fr. Jose Kuply visited Mandsaur looking for a new mission station for the establishment of a school. Fr. Kuply stayed in a rented house at Ramtekri and was helped by many important personalities of the locality. The need to establish a quality educational institution for the benefit of the people of Mandsaur was in the minds of many. With the grace of God, first admissions to the school started on 25th, June 1984.A rented building with eight rooms at Ramtekri became St. Thomas School on 9th, July 1984.The blessing ceremony and official inauguration of the school was by Rev. Fr. Mathai Thadavanal, then Vicar General of Indore Diocese. The President of the function was Rev. Fr. Cherian, then Diocesan Secretary and it was attended by a number of Officers from the Local Administration including the then SDM. A group of about 500 prominent persons in the locality including Mr. Narendra Nahata was present. The School started with K.G I and K.G II, both two sections each. Sr. Alveraz, Sr. Isbel, Sr. Jyothis and Ms Dories were the teachers. There were 160 pupils.

Milestones

  • Established on 9th July, 1984 in a rented building at Ramtekri by Late Rev. Fr. Jose Kuply. Rev. Fr. Mathai Thadavanal (the then Vicar General) blessed and inaugurated the School. Rev. Fr. Cherian (the then diocesan Secretary) was also present. Rev. Sr. Alvarez C.M.C. was the first Principal of the school from 1984-86.
  • Shifted to the present location near Sitamau Fatak by the Mhow - Neemuch Road on 3rd July, 1986. New building was blessed and inaugurated by Rt. Rev. Dr. George Anathil, the then Bishop of Indore Diocese. Rev. Sr. Keerthana C.M.C. took charge as the Principal of the school from 1986-89.
  • First batch of class V students appeared for State Board Examination in the year 1988-89. Rev. Sr. Lourd Mary C.M.C. took charge as the Principal of the school from 1989-92.
  • First batch of class VIIl students appeared for State Board Examination in the year 1992-93. Rev. Fr. Philip. O.A. became the manager of the school from 1992-98. Rev. Sr. Isbel C.M.C. took charge as the Principal of the school from 1992-95.
  • First batch of class X students appeared for State Board Examination in the year 1994-95. Rev. Sr. Sajeeva C.M.C. took charge as the principal of the school from 1995-2001.
  • First batch of class XII students (Maths stream and Biology stream) appeared for State Board Examination in the year 1996-97.
  • Affiliated to C.B.S.E. in the year 1998. Rev. Fr. Mathai Thadavanal became the manager of the school from 1998-2001.
  • Became part of the Jhabua Diocese in the year 2002. Rev. Sr. Keerthana C.M.C. took charge as the Principal of the school from 2001-2007. Rev. Fr. Lawrence S. became the manager of the school from 2001-2009.
  • Foundation Stone laid for a new stadium in the year 2002.
  • Started Commerce batch, full-fledged Computer classes and the Nursery in the year 2002-03.
  • Inaugurated the new Science Block and Library in the year 2002-03.
  • Inaugurated the new playground in the year 2002-03.
  • Formation of the P.T.A. in the year 2003-04.
  • Introduced Audio-Visual Teaching Techniques in the year 2004-05.
  • Opened the Maths Laboratory in the year 2005-06.
  • Introduced English Language Laboratory in the year 2006-07. Rev. Sr. Jyothis C.M.C. took charge as the Principal of the school from 2007-2012.

  • Formed St. Thomas Alumni Association on 10th February 2008.
  • The School celebrated its Silver Jubilee in the year 2008-09.
  • Introduced CCE into class IX in 2009-10. Rev. Fr. Kennedy Thomas took charge as the manager of the school from 2009 onwards.
  • Computerised the language laboratory in 2009-10.
  • Inaugurated Rev. Fr. Jose Kuply Memorial Volleyball Tournament in April 2009-10.
  • Introduced Smart Class in 2011-12.
  • Constructed a new block for both administrative and academic purposes in 2011.
  • CCE was introduced from classes I to VIII in 2013-13. Rev. Sr. Johncy C.M.C. took charge as the Principal of the School from 2012
  • Inaugurated well designed and renovated Basket Ball court and introduced Robotic classes in 2013-14.
  • Started computerized result generation for all the classes in 2014-15.
  • A Cash Award of Rs. 10,000 for the school toppers of class XII CBSE Board and provision of certificates and medals for the students who score 90% and above in board exams by the Schools Management in 2014-15.
  • Began Commerce club in the year 2014-15.
  • Began "S5" (St. Thomas School Social Service Scheme) in the year 2014-15.
  • Introduced IP (Informatics Practices) subject for class XI and completed the construction of Il floor of administrative cum academic block in 2015-16.
  • Inaugurated Hi-Tech Maths lab in the year 2015-16.
  • Bio-Metric Attendance system for the staff was introduced in the year 2015-2016
  • Started Scout and Guides in 2015-16.
  • Started NCC in 2016-2017. Rev. Sr. Sajeeva C.M.C. took charge as the Principal of the school from 2016 onwards.
  • Started SMS facility from school to students home in the year 2016-17.
  • Introduced new uniform for Nursery students in 2016-17.
  • Introduced Institute of Language Management (ILM) for III to VII classes in 2017-18.
  • Started the Sports Gurukul for | and II Classes in 2017-18.
  • Started Bull Bull for girls and Cub for boys for III class in 2017-18.
  • Introduced Entab-Campus care in 2017-18
  • CBSE introduced new pattern of assessment in 2017-18
  • The School is currently under the able guidance of Rev. Fr. Lawrence S (Manager) and Rev. Sr. Jyothis CMC (Principal)
